From a glance, Geary Avenue seems to be a place for industrial uses only, but when you walk along this street, you discover a variety of creative community initiatives and innovative business practices.
Join us to learn about the history of Geary Avenue and how people have created a sense of belonging here.
This walk will explore the place-making in one unique part of the Junction-Wallace Emerson neighbourhood.
Along the walk, we will discover how craft breweries, sandwich and pizza shops, car repair garages, music spaces, community gardens, and art galleries have created a vibrant destination place.
Despite its proximity to downtown Toronto, Geary Avenue has managed to escape gentrification and continues to provide a space for its local community.
