The Ontario Science Centre (OSC) was conceived and constructed for Canada's centennial. One of the first interactive and immersive science education facilities, it differed from traditional museums as visitors were encouraged to explore, touch, and have fun! Architect Raymond Moriyama chose a location out of downtown Toronto adjacent to the West Don ravine. Seamlessly blending the large built form of the facility with the natural terrain and native trees of the the valley, much of the natural features were left intact for visitors to enjoy. Our walk will center around the past, present, and future of the Science Centre as we circulate around the outside of the OSC, through areas left intact, areas of ecological restoration, local history, and points of interest. **LANGUAGE** : English **THEMEs** : * Advocacy and Politics * Architecture and Urban Planning * Arts and Culture * Environment and Sustainability * History and Places * People and Communities * Transit and Accessibility **ACCESSIBILITY** : * Uneven terrain * Stairs or other barriers * Breaks encouraged * Dog-friendly walk * Family-friendly walk * Walk leader will use audio amplification
